About
Mr. Spelman grew up in the Las Vegas Valley, where he lives with his family, and is a proud UNLV Rebel alumnus.
Mr. Spelman is an experienced litigator in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate level. He began his career working for three courts, starting as an extern in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, followed by judicial clerkships in the Nevada Court of Appeals and United States District Court. Following his work in the courts, Mr. Spelman served his clients as a litigator on appellate and post-conviction matters for the Federal Public Defender, District of Nevada, and on trial-level matters with the Clark County Special Public Defender and King County Department of Public Defense.
Mr. Spelman has been published for his legal scholarship in the Nevada Law Journal, discussing the intersection of modern technology and constitutional law. He has also been published in the Nevada Independent. He is the former president of the Federal Bar Association, UNLV Student Division, and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law with the distinction of Highest Pro Bono Honors for his service to the community during law school. He has an undergraduate education from UNLV in biological sciences with a focus on molecular biology.
Mr. Spelman is admitted to practice law in both Nevada and Washington and is a member of the bars of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Spelman brings his knowledge and experience in the courtroom to serve his clients as a partner at Winters Spelman, focusing his practice on civil and commercial litigation, business law, injury law, civil and criminal appeals, and criminal defense.
